HubSpot Marketing Hub Pricing and a Cheaper AI CMO Option

HubSpot Marketing Hub costs from 20 USD per seat a month on Starter, 800 USD a month on Professional with annual billing, and 3,600 USD a month on Enterprise, plus one-time onboarding of 3,000 USD and 7,000 USD on the upper tiers. The first year on Professional is therefore about 12,600 USD before extra seats, contacts or credits. If you mostly need a plan for where the marketing budget goes, an AI CMO such as VirtualCmo covers that for 299 to 999 USD a month and works on top of a Starter HubSpot account.

The numbers below come from HubSpot's US pricing page as of October 2026. Prices change, so check the page before you sign, and note that contact counts push the real bill higher than the headline tier.

HubSpot Marketing Hub pricing by tier

TierPriceSeats includedOnboardingCredits a month
StarterFrom 7 USD per seat on promotion, 20 USD listPer seatNone500
Professional800 USD a month annual, 890 USD monthly3, extra from 45 USD each3,000 USD3,000
Enterprise3,600 USD a month5, extra from 75 USD each7,000 USD5,000

Extra credits cost 0.01 USD each, and the included credits do not roll over. Credits matter because the AI features and agents draw on them, so a team that leans on AI can pass the included amount in a busy month.

What HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional really costs in year one

Take a growth-stage team with five marketing users. Professional at 800 USD a month is 9,600 USD a year. Two extra seats at 45 USD a month add 1,080 USD. Onboarding adds 3,000 USD. That is 13,680 USD before contacts above the included tier, extra credits and any add-ons. Plan on about 14,000 to 16,000 USD in year one, and about 10,700 USD a year after that.

That is a fair price when your whole funnel lives in HubSpot: email, forms, landing pages, lead scoring and reporting tied to the CRM. It is a lot to pay if what you wanted was marketing direction. HubSpot gives you tools to run campaigns. It does not tell you how much to spend on each channel, which channel to cut, or whether the pipeline target is reachable at the current budget.

What HubSpot does not decide for you

  • Budget by channel. Reports show what each channel produced. Nobody sets next quarter's split from the revenue target.
  • Pacing. Spend runs ahead or behind plan and the dashboard does not raise a flag.
  • Cross-tool results. Paid platforms, analytics and the CRM disagree, and someone has to reconcile them every week.
  • Trade-offs. Which of ten possible projects is worth the next 10,000 USD.

Those are the jobs a CMO does. A full-time CMO costs far more than Marketing Hub, and a fractional one runs 5,000 to 15,000 USD a month, as covered in our fractional CMO cost breakdown.

HubSpot plus an AI CMO instead of a bigger tier

The cheaper route for many teams is to stay on HubSpot Starter, which keeps contacts and forms in one place, and add an AI CMO for the decisions. VirtualCmo connects read-only to ad accounts, analytics and the CRM, turns a revenue target into a budget by channel, re-plans weekly and reports on track or at risk. Its agents prepare the channel work, and ads and customer-facing copy wait for your approval.

SetupApproximate year-one costWhat you get
Marketing Hub Professional, 3 seats12,600 USDAutomation, lead scoring, reporting, AI credits
Marketing Hub Starter, 3 seats plus VirtualCmo GrowthStarter about 720 USD plus plan from 299 USD a month billed yearlyCRM, forms, email plus budget plan, weekly decisions, reporting
Marketing Hub Professional plus VirtualCmo12,600 USD plus planFull automation and the decision layer
Fractional CMO and Starter60,000 to 180,000 USD a yearHuman direction a few hours a week

The Starter setup gives up advanced automation, multi-step workflows and some reporting. If you run complex nurture programs, Professional earns its price. If your campaigns are a few emails and some paid ads, you may be paying for features you do not use.

Is HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional worth it?

It is worth it when three things are true: you have thousands of contacts to segment, you run automated nurture across several stages, and your marketing team lives in it daily. It is not worth it when you bought it to get AI help with strategy, because the AI features write and summarize rather than decide where the budget goes. We compare the agent features in our HubSpot Breeze alternative guide.

How to decide in an afternoon

  1. List the tier features you used in the last 90 days. If it is under half, price Starter.
  2. Write down the three marketing decisions you made last quarter without data. Those are the gap.
  3. Add your real seat count, onboarding and credit use to get the year-one number.
  4. Compare against a plan that makes the decisions, such as the VirtualCmo plans, and a human retainer if you want one.

Teams that already pay for several sales and marketing tools often find the gap is not another tool. It is one place that reads all of them and says what to do on Monday. If you also want a tool to put routine campaigns on autopilot, that is a separate task from budgeting, and it works best inside limits that a plan sets.

Frequently asked questions

How much does HubSpot Marketing Hub cost per month?

Starter is from 20 USD per seat, Professional is 800 USD a month on an annual plan or 890 USD monthly, and Enterprise is 3,600 USD a month. Professional and Enterprise also charge 3,000 USD and 7,000 USD one-time onboarding.

Is there a cheaper alternative to HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional?

Staying on Starter and adding an AI CMO for planning is cheaper for teams with simple campaigns. Teams that need advanced automation can compare Marketo or ActiveCampaign, covered in our Marketo alternative comparison.

Does HubSpot charge extra for AI features?

Some AI features are included, and agents draw on HubSpot Credits. Each tier includes a monthly amount, and extra credits cost 0.01 USD each, so heavy use can raise the bill.

Can an AI CMO replace HubSpot Marketing Hub?

No. HubSpot runs email, forms and automation. An AI CMO decides the budget, plans channels and reports results. Most teams use them together, and a smaller HubSpot tier often does the job.
